Wow, it's dusty in here! Anyway, I've been scouring YouTube for dog videos since I'm in the market for a pooch. Lots of videos include soundtracks to accompany the footage. This had led to some really cool music discoveries lately:
"Walkabout" from the Red Hot Chil Peppers' CD "One Hot Minute." a rare non-explicit track with a great lazy funk groove.
"Feels Like Home" from Randy Newman's musical "Faust." Turns out, many singers have covered this great love song but I prefer Bonnie Raitt's version from the original soundtrack.
"She's The One", originally done by the immortal World Party from their CD "Egyptology" but more recently covered by Robbie Williams on his "The Ego Has Landed" CD. I bought both versions from iTunes.
Aside from those tracks, I've been checking out two discs from The Innocence Mission, "Birds of My Neighborhood" and "We Walked in Song." The former disc dates from 1999 but was recently re-released and the later disc is the newest offering from TIM. TIM was a pop/shoegazer outfit when they started out back in the mid-90s but have evolved into a indie-folk trio performing adult lullaby-ish music. TIM singer Karen Peris' voice is a sweet combination of Bjork and Natalie Merchant, not for everyone but I really like it.
